"It's clear we're headed for some hard economic times.  We all need to find creative ways to help each other." said Grandpa Giesberg in 1921.

We can all say the same today.  With the radical shift from film-based to digital imaging, we at AMS have been working at reinventing ourselves for the past ten years.  Because of our investment in our PACS products, AMS has not gone the way of the dodo bird.

Now we are introducing our latest concept.  AMS Surplus.  For the past year, we have been beta testing this concept - and let me tell you it works!  Simply put, we will help you market your excess new and used medical equipment inventory through a series of contacts we have developed over the course of our 50+ years in the medical business.

Could you do it yourself?  Possibly, but we make it easy and we manage the process.  Getting your money can be as  simple as a wire transfer to your account.

Take a few moments to walk through the steps outlined on this page.  Call us if you have any questions, or just try us out by filling out the simple questionnaire in Step 4.

Step 1:

FAQ's

1. What will we list?  We currently take general medical or radiology-related equipment.  We prefer that it not be older than 1990 manufacturing date.  You must verify that it is working and indicate any major physical flaws. (A picture or two is really helpful.)

2. What price do we set?  Market price.  We will research what other similar products are selling for and will begin our listing at or a little below what we decide.  In most cases our final sales price is above what we think is market price.  However, remember that the primary reason to use AMS Surplus is to turn "heirlooms" into cash.  Most people use us because we can do this quickly and easily, not because they are looking for top dollar (hey, we want to be honest).

3. Can I set a reserve price?  Yes, but be aware that your product may not sell as quickly or at all if your reserve price is unrealistically high.

4. Who holds the inventory during this period?  You do.  Think of AMS Surplus as your sales agent.  On occasion, however, we have been known to purchase multiples of the same item from a customer.  In such cases we will have you ship the lot to us.

5. What's the hot price range?  We are looking for items that will sell in two categories:  under $1,000 and $1,000 to $10,000.

6. When do I get paid?  Thirty to forty-five days after the item sells and has been paid for (in order to make allowance for complaints and/or returns).  We don't ask you to ship anything unless we already have the money.

Step 2:

Fees

We find that for physically small items it is best to quote a shipping cost (which we will determine from the information you give us).   Whenever possible we like to quote shipping costs up-front on all shipments within the 48-continguous United States. The buyer pays all shipping costs and expenses.

From the selling price we deduct any third party listing or selling fees (these vary per sales site) and credit card fees if the item is paid for this way.  That leaves our commission for handling this work.  We charge 15% for items listed over $1,500 and 20% for items up to $1,500.  Remember, all you do is fill out a survey or send us an Excel spreadsheet.  If you have a photo, all the better. We do all the rest.
